 Richard and Dan started Thayer Corporation in a chicken coop/dog kennel on Richard Thayer's property 

Thayer Corporation was founded in 1981 by Daniel and Richard Thayer. The company was built on one primary core value, "to provide unparalleled customer service to the HVAC Design/Build Industry". Within a short time and because of the company’s commitment to customer service, Thayer Corporation emerged as one of the largest, most successful HVAC companies in the State of Maine. In 1992, Thayer Corporation purchased the LINC SERVICE franchise for Maine. The partnership with LINC and its enhanced business practices, proved an instant success, yielding excellent growth for Thayer and further setting the company apart from its competitors.

Currently owned and operated by Dan Thayer, the company boasts a recently renovated modern 35,000 square foot office and fabrication facility in Auburn, Maine. Thayer Corporation serves the state with more than 50 employees and a fleet of over 40 service and installation vehicles dispatched from regional offices throughout Maine.

Thayer has expanded into residential HVAC as well as manufacturing. Vital Technologies is a wholly owned subsidiary, design, manufacturing and distribution company. Vital manufactures indoor pool and specialty dehumidifiers for sale in North America and distributes wood chip and pellet boilers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
